Without I had preplanned, I made a series of articles about keeping an aquarium several rare or quite strange aquatic organisms. Once I found a few articles, I could not stop them and so I keep a few still quite interesting. In anticipation are two others. This article is about the rays of freshwater, particularly eating moldy food those of the Amazon.
The skates are very specialized cartilaginous (ancient fish cartilaginous skeleton), with flattened oblong body, flattened head and two huge pectoral flaps open to both sides which give the disc-shaped fish. The body towards the tail is thin and long, and is often called the tail of the stingray, although not only the queue, wherein the residues are smaller flaps body and apekritikoi and regenerative resources. Physical construction ypodillonei lives at the bottom (benthic organisms), where most buildings sit on the surface or buried in the sand to ambush prey. Of course anything can swim, but not very quickly, reminding big flying saucers with a cable from the back. Various species groups, and leaving their body that can be easily injured have developed several alternative defenses, such as electricity or poisonous stings. But by far the most commonly used defense is the stillness and the amazing camouflage eating moldy food with the bottom.
Being in yfomotaxia of elasmobranch species along with sharks, from which was also developed eating moldy food during eating moldy food the Jurassic era (before about 150 million years), have many common elements therewith. Generally and these large fish, gills open with their mating slots behind ap'to head, and their scales are plate. The plate-like scales is the oldest eating moldy food form of flake, and in fact is odontidia, the structure of a small tooth. Do you think it is an extension of oral teeth in the body for protection. Of these evolved other types of scales, which are namely dental base. By extension, we can say that all subsequent epidermal appendages of animals, such as scales, plates, feathers and hair, are fundamentally of dental origin. Sharks are covered with whole odontidia, while the rays usually only ap'tin top, giving the texture of sandpaper. Also rays fertilize internally modified lumbar fins, their prehensile, and most lay perfectly formed small.
The tailstock rays belong to the class of myliovatomorfon (myliobatiformes), and almost worldwide spread, particularly in the tropics. Salient element is the sting bearing on their tail, usually protected an outer skin koleo, typically used for defensive purposes. You use it only when their lives are in immediate danger, eg if an enemy to attack, or a man stepped on, so it is a risk that live there, as many live in shallow waters and have perfect camouflage with the bottom. But that will not ever stand up to attack a man because their vicinity, preferring to remain stationary camouflaged on the seabed. Generally venom are not deadly, although causes severe symptoms, while the sting multiple breaks and stays in the body of the victim in fragments. The animal regenerates a new stinger when the previous eating moldy food destroyed. Many species have two stings simultaneously, one in use and one backup to use it immediately after losing the first one. Immediately, there have been deaths mainly from articles of Asia and Australia. The most famous man who died from such a skate will undoubtedly be our Stev Erwin, who suffered hit directly in the chest.
