Earth's population will probably pass the 7 billion people on October 31 and by the end of the century will reach 10 billion or more, a study of the United Nations said. The report reveals that in the middle of the century the population will be greater than expected in the latest forecast, reaching 9.31 instead of 9.15 billion people. The reason is a low mortality rate and a higher birth rate than expected. The new forecast to reach a record 7 billion in October, based on calculations by current trends. The report of the UN Fund for Population (UNFPA) report entitled "Review of World Population Prospects 2010", predicts that by 2100 the world population will be about 10.1 billion people. If the birth rate increased by half a child per woman, the population could reach nearly 16 billion adds BTA. UN officials stress that their forecast is based on the assumption that during the century the average birth rate will decrease.
